April 30, 2003 Dear friends and supporters- Below is a sample fax written by myself and lawyer Bill Quigley to send to the addresses posted yesterday. In order to be taken seriously, it is important that each fax is in your own words, not a direct copy of this sample. I have again posted the numbers and addresses of the recipients at the end of this message (faxes are the most effective, but phone calls and letters may also be helpful). Please take action now! SAMPLE FAX: April 30, 2003 I am writing to ask you to make sure that Jessica Carr, an inmate in the Danbury Federal Prison Camp (BOP# 91389-020), is given the correct doctor prescribed medication, the hormone testosterone. I understand that the medication is already overdue, so please ensure that this medical situation is resolved as soon as possible. (Then, please include as much information as you are able to about Jesse's missing PSI and medical records - but the first few lines are key and must contain Jesse's name, inmate # and the phrase "doctor prescribed medication." Longer faxes may be taken more seriously than those of only 2-3 sentences, but all together they will be helpful nonetheless.) Sincerely (or something more creative), When you send a fax, please take a moment to cc: the message to me or to send me an email at sarah.saunders@o... so that we have an accurate record of how many are actually sent. Also, I have already received questions about what pronoun(s) to use when referring to Jesse. In the eyes of the prison system, Jesse is a woman, but I would say that you can make that call however you see fit. Thank you all for your commitment and courage.
Take care and stay strong, Addresses: Warden Kuma Deboo Director M.E. Ray |
